5-star Review from macCompanion

macCompanion reviews the book and gives it five stars!

Palm Organizers, 4th Edition: Visual QuickStart Guide by Jeff Carlson and Agen G.N. Schmitz isn’t a book that someone would have palmed off to you unless they wanted you to learn all about Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) in a quick and easy-to-understand process that engages both sides of your brain.

Sony to Withdraw from PDA Market

No surprise here: Sony to Withdraw from Personal Digital Assistants. Sony killed the Clie line in the United States last year, and now they're stopping the Clie in Japan. The reason? Competition from devices that integrate a PDA into a cellular phone.

When Handspring first released the Treo years ago, some people thought they were off their rockers, but time is showing that customers just don't want to carry multiple gadgets.

First Cobalt PDA Announced

Engadget reports that Cobalt, aka Palm OS 6, will finally appear in a handheld: GSPDA says they’ll be the first with Palm OS Cobalt. It's about time someone actually bit.

Treo 650's RAM Stores Less Data

PalmOne's decision to move to nonvolatile flash memory, which enables data to be stored even if the battery dies, has resulted in less overall capacity: New file system constrains Treo 650 storage capacity. According to the MacCentral article, PalmOne will be offering a free 128 MB expansion memory card to Treo 650 owners.

Tungsten T5

Tungsten T5PalmOne last week unveiled the Tungsten T5, which features a rectangular screen (no permanent silkscreen area), 256 MB of memory, built-in Bluetooth, and the very cool capability to act as a USB flash drive in addition to Palm OS 5.4 features (that's right, no Cobalt OS). It's pricey at $400, but palmOne is gearing this to be the "executive" handheld, in the same spirit as the hugely successful Palm V. Agen and I were briefed on the specs, and we're hoping to get a review unit soon.
