Today Ellie and I went to the Seattle Aquarium with the local grandparents. Larry and Janet have wanted to take us for quite some time, but we've never been able to find a time that worked for all of us. Well, actually Jeff wasn't able to come since he's finishing up a book, but we'll bring him along the next time.
Ellie was rather dubious of the whole experience for the first few minutes. She didn't want to look at any of the exhibits, and was acting somewhat fearful. But, we let her walk around and lead us where she wanted to go and soon she acclimated herself to her surroundings and had a great time.
One of the first highlights was finding Nemo! (Or a clown fish that looked like Nemo.)
Although I've only let Ellie watch the Disney film Finding Nemo a few times, it was actually a great reference. Pointing out things like jellyfish, coral, starfish, and sharks, and relating them back to the movie helped her understand what she was seeing.
And, Ellie had a great time being doted upon by Nana and Papa:
Next time maybe Ellie will want to touch the starfish and sea anemones in the "petting zoo."
(There are a few more pics of our adventure on my Flickr page.)
The "Nemo" tank also has a blue fish in it like Nemo's friend. It's witty, because the Aquarium doesn't label the exhibit that way!
